These are my best ever diet tips!
- 1. Dont drink diet drinks: your brain is tricked into thinking that you are about to eat something sweet, and when that doesn't happen; your body still craves the sugar. Drink water!
- 2. Dont starve your body: hunger will win every time, and the more you starve the more you will eat when (eventually) you give in to this most basic instinct!
- 3. Keep nuts with you: you never know when you may need some quick and healthy energy, and when there is nothing but fast food to be found- you will be as prepared as any self respecting girl scout!
- 4. Snack before a party: this may sound crazy, but if you have a small snack before you go out you wil be less likely to eat calorie laden nibbles ( so you can save the extrra caolories for teh good stuff)!
- 5. Eat less sugar: choose sugar free food whenever possible, and get into the habit of reading food labels( you will be surprised to find sugar lurking in the most unlikely of places).
- 6. Undress your salad: the extra dressing and croutons that sound very appealing will only add a huge amount of calories to your saintly meal!
- 7. Drink your veggies: vegetable soup is a great way to start any meal, and the bonus is that you will be getting a good variety of nutrients and you will probably take in less calories in your main meal and eat less overall.
- 8. Have the fruit, not the juice. When juicing fruit we end up consuming far more calories and far less fibre. Eg. a whole orange will give you 60 calories and fibre but a glass of OJ will give you a whopping 120 calories!
- 9. Bulk it out with veg, not rice. Consider swapping your regular carbohydrate (rice, potatoes, pasta) with a vegetable instead.You will save calories and get a bunch of nutrients into the bargain too!
- 10. Keep your eye firmly on the fat. Reading the fat content on food labels(and then avoiding those foods) can make a massive difference. But beware: lower fat items are sometimes filled with extra sugar- which is not fat, but can make you fat!
